Sample project: crumbling mortar joints on a brick chimney were raked out and filled with fresh mortar.
The problem
Sample scenario: sandy mortar was washing out of the chimney's joints, and a few bricks near the top had started to rock.
What we did
- Raked the soft mortar out of the worn joints.
- Brushed the joints clean of dust.
- Packed in new mortar and tooled it to match.
- Checked the bricks around the top for movement.
The result
Sample outcome: tight, filled joints that keep water out of the brick.
