Chimney repair in El Cajon, CA. Built for the valley's extremes.
- Repairs from crown to firebox
- Written quote, then the work
- Duct and dryer vent cleaning
El Cajon takes its name from the box-shaped valley around it, and that valley sees greater temperature extremes than coastal San Diego. Clear Sky Chimney & Air Duct repairs chimneys, fits caps and sweeps flues across the city, and cleans ducts and dryer vents too.

What we do
Services for El Cajon households
Big swings between summer and winter wear on masonry, sealant and metal. Long cooling seasons keep ducts and dryer vents busy. We inspect the chimney and the airflow side together, then recommend only what the house needs.
Most requested Chimney Cleaning
Creosote, soot, leaves and nesting material brushed out of the flue and smoke chamber, with the firebox vacuumed and the damper checked before we leave.

Chimney Inspection
A look at the flue, crown, flashing and firebox against the NFPA 211 annual-inspection standard, with a deeper camera inspection when you buy, sell or reline.

Chimney Repair
Cracked crowns, loose bricks, failed mortar joints and leaking flashing traced to the cause, then repaired so water stops getting into the masonry.

Air Duct Cleaning
Supply and return ducts, registers and the air handler cleaned as one system, when there's a real reason to: visible mold, pests, or heavy dust coming out of the vents.

High demand Dryer Vent Cleaning
Lint cleared from the whole run between the dryer and the outside flap, plus a check that the duct isn't crushed and the flap opens.

Chimney Cap Installation
A cap sized to your flue keeps rain, birds and debris out and puts a mesh screen between your fire and the roof.

El Cajon chimney help
Want an El Cajon chimney looked at?
The valley started as cattle pasture on Rancho El Cajón, then grew grapes, avocados and citrus before the city incorporated in 1912. Neighborhoods like Fletcher Hills, laid out by Ed Fletcher in 1927 and 1928, sit alongside Bostonia, the eastern Granite Hills streets and much newer housing, including on the old Frontier Town site.
With housing that varied, a quick guess isn't good enough. We open with a chimney inspection, go over what we find with you, and then quote masonry or flashing repair, a new cap, firebox and damper work or a sweep.

Why El Cajon chooses us
No upsell, just the findings
If your flue is clean and the crown is sound, we'll say that and leave. When something does need work, you see it in photos, hear why it matters, and get the cost in writing before any work happens.
- Whole-system check, not just the obvious part
- Written estimate before work starts
- Honest answer when nothing needs doing
- Chimney, ducts and dryer vent in one trip
How a visit works
From request to clear flue, in three steps.
- 01
Send a request
Use the form and tell us what you've noticed: smoke, a smell, water stains, a dryer that runs long. Mention the age of the house if you know it.
- 02
We inspect and explain
The technician checks the chimney, ducts or vent run, shows you what was found and puts the recommended work and its price in writing.
- 03
Work done, then tested
Once you approve, we do the work and test it: a draw check on the fireplace, airflow at the registers, or the dryer flap opening on its own.
Valley-heat chimney repair
Heat-cracked crowns, tired flashing
El Cajon set a record high of 114°F in September 2020, and the valley swings further between hot and cool than the coast does. Repeated heating and cooling opens small cracks in crowns and mortar joints and loosens flashing sealant, and the winter rain then finds those openings.
A typical repair seals or recasts the crown, replaces failed flashing and adds a stainless cap so storms, nesting birds and blown leaves can't drop into the flue. If the leak has been running a while, we also check the damper and smoke chamber for rust and crumbling mortar.

Flue · Ducts · Dryer vent
Ducts and vents that keep up with summer
The valley gets drier the farther east you go, and long cooling seasons keep air moving through the ducts. If you see dust collecting at the registers or have just finished a remodel, a duct cleaning may be worth it. We'll check before recommending one.
Dryer vents deserve the same attention. A clogged run makes the dryer work longer in a laundry room that's already warm, and lint is what catches fire. A yearly vent cleaning keeps the path open.

FAQs
El Cajon chimney and vent FAQs
Short answers to what homeowners ask before booking.
Does El Cajon's summer heat really damage a chimney?
It adds up. The valley sees greater extremes than coastal San Diego, and those wide temperature swings work small cracks into crown mortar and flashing sealant. They're easy to miss until the winter rain leaks through, so late summer is a good time for a look.
My house is in Fletcher Hills. Anything special to check?
Fletcher Hills was first developed in 1927 and 1928, so some homes there have older masonry chimneys. On those we pay close attention to mortar joints, the crown and the condition of the flue liner. The area runs mostly in El Cajon and partly into La Mesa, and we cover both sides.
Do you work in Rancho San Diego and Granite Hills?
Yes. We cover El Cajon proper, Fletcher Hills, Bostonia, the Granite Hills area on the east side and Rancho San Diego. Much of Granite Hills is unincorporated county land with El Cajon addresses, and we serve that too.
Is a chimney cap worth adding?
Usually, if the flue has none. A cap keeps rain from falling straight down the flue, stops birds and animals from nesting, and its mesh screen holds sparks in. In a dry, inland area that last point matters. See chimney cap installation.
What are the signs my dryer vent needs cleaning?
Loads taking two cycles, a cabinet too warm to rest a hand on, a scorched odor near the laundry, or an exterior hood whose flap hardly lifts. Any of those means lint is restricting the run. We clean from the dryer to the exterior hood and check the flap works.
